Probably the most interesting music I hear on AM is in your backyard Greg, at 860kHz. But that's late at night. I don't know what that French CBC outlet does during the day. And you can probably get WSM at 650, if you like classic country. And AM 740 is OK. Not groundbreaking, but at least it's original programming, and not something canned off a bird, like WNIO.

Coincidentally, I happened to hear both WNIO and WHKZ this morning around sunrise when doing a brief bit of DXing before heading off to work. They're both "irregularly regular" here in Toronto. I wish that there were stations that had music formats more interesting than nostalgia or oldies left on AM, but I am nevertheless glad that at least someone still plays music on AM radio.

BTW, I started following your blog some time ago because of your posts on the WFMU blog (the Adventures in Amplitude Modulation ones). And I found those because I was subscribing to some of WFMU's podcasts, including The Audio Kitchen.

Thanks Greg. Good to hear from you again.

I just found a big box of tapes I haven't touched for years, and there's a number of bandscans from seven to ten years ago I'd forgotten about. And one thing about radio recordings is that they tend to get more interesting as time goes by.

So one or two of these will probably come in to play here at the blog before the end of the year. Meanwhile, I'll be adding them to the rotation on my internet radio station.

I love these posts about your bandscans of the AM dial. As a fan of AM radio, and of AM radio DXing, I'm always interested in reading about other people's experiences of it.

Regards from Toronto, Ontario.

Should I post more AM radio music? More bandscans? Shortwave? Historic or exotic recordings? Medium-wave DX? Or more of those kooky radio conspirators?

Yes :D
